Affordly is a free financial tool that helps you check whether you can actually afford something — based on your income, expenses, and the real cost of ownership. No sign-up required. No data stored. No financial advice.
Most financial tools are built by institutions that profit from your decisions. Their calculators are designed to make a repayment feel manageable — not to show you the full picture. Affordly was built to do the opposite: to surface the numbers that matter, including the costs people typically underestimate.
I've asked the same questions most Australians ask: can I actually afford this car? Does buying a home stack up against renting right now? Where is my money quietly going each month? Honest, visual answers were surprisingly hard to come by without signing up for something or handing over personal data. So I built my own tools — free, browser-based, and designed to give you the full picture.
Every calculator runs entirely in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server or stored anywhere — your numbers stay yours.
Enter your income, regular expenses, and the purchase price of what you're considering. The calculator returns a five-tier verdict, optional finance modelling (repayments, total interest, debt-to-income ratio), and an opportunity cost comparison showing what the same money might grow to if invested instead.
Run the numbers →Calculates stamp duty for all 8 states and territories using current 2025–26 rate bands, estimates LMI based on your LVR, applies state-specific First Home Owner Grants and First Home Guarantee eligibility, and produces a month-by-month break-even analysis alongside a 10-year net wealth comparison.
See if buying stacks up →Add your recurring services and see your true annual total alongside a Subscription Score. The tool flags duplicate or underused services and shows what that money could become if redirected to savings. Resets when you close the tab — nothing is stored.
See your recurring total →Affordly Insights articles are numbers-first and free of commercial influence. I don't accept sponsored content, affiliate commissions, or product placements.
I'm a Melbourne-based developer with a background in technology and a genuine interest in personal affordability. I'm not a financial professional — I care about helping Australians understand what things actually cost, presented visually and in plain language so you can make your own informed decisions.
Affordly is not affiliated with any bank, lender, insurer, or financial services provider. The tools are free and will remain free.
